Brief Biographical Sketch:

I am PhD candidate in Electrical Engineering with a focus in lithography (aka printing really small circuits). Much to the chagrin of my coworkers, I love making coffee at the office. My current favorite brewing method is the nel =)

C6790: Introduction to Scanning Electron Microscopy in Splash Fall 2018 (Dec. 01 - 02, 2018)
Beyond the capability of the human eye, there exists an entire landscape accessible only through microscopes. Join us for an exploration of the invisible world at the nanoscale through scanning electron microscopy (SEM)! In this class, we will cover the basic physics and functionality of this powerful tool and compare it to traditional optical microscopes. We will take a field trip to the Stanford Nano Shared Facilities to visit the SEM and image some samples. Get excited to see everyday objects, such as hair, in a whole new light!

L5493: Drink Better Coffee: an Introduction to Manual Brewing in Splash Spring 2017 (Apr. 22 - 23, 2017)
Is your coffee stale and bitter? Is your Starbucks habit draining your wallet? Dip your taste buds into the world of specialty coffee with this introductory class on brewing better coffee at home! We will discuss the basics of how to get the best flavor out of your coffee beans and what tools you will need to do it. This will be accompanied by a demonstration of how to operate an Aeropress brewer and coffee tastings. Emphasis will be placed on the relationship between flavor extraction and coffee grind size.


L5386: Drink Better Coffee: an introduction to manual brewing in Splash Fall 2016 (Dec. 03 - 04, 2016)
Is your coffee stale and bitter? Is your Starbucks habit draining your wallet? Dip your taste buds into the world of specialty coffee with this introductory class on brewing better coffee at home! We will discuss the basics of how to get the best flavor out of your coffee beans and what tools you will need to do it. This will be followed by a hands-on demonstration and tasting of coffee brewed using various manual (non-espresso) methods, including French press, Kalita Wave pour over, cold brew, and Aeropress.
