R2867: Introduction to the Yoruba Language in Splash! Spring 2013 (Apr. 13 - 14, 2013)
A basic introduction to the Yoruba language. One of the main languages spoken in Nigeria - a country in west Africa. Goals; 1. Learn the alphabets 2. Numbers 3. The different tones of the language 4. A little detour to discuss the Yoruba culture and names. 5. Learn some common day-to-day conversational phrases in Yoruba 6. Ask as many questions as you want on the language and Culture.


R1991: Introduction to the Yoruba Language and Culture in Splash! Spring 2012 (Apr. 21 - 22, 2012)
Students will gain exposure to the basic alphabets in the Yoruba Language, while learning the cultural beauty of the Yoruba culture. Then we would move on to learning the different tones in the language and the importance of using the right tones in order for the words to have the intended meaning. We will conclude the session by learning relevant phrases that are used from day to day conversation.


E1701: A gentle introduction to Nanotechnology and its applications in Splash! Fall 2011 (Oct. 29 - 30, 2011)
In this seminar we will introduce the fundamental concepts in nanotechnology through hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Topics discussed include nano-fabrication, applications in consumer products, risks and concerns and the future outlook for nanotechnology. Be prepared to participate in some really fun small group based activities.
