Brief Biographical Sketch:

Hey! My name's Janelle, and I'm a senior at Stanford majoring in Computer Science. I'll be a Masters student next year, also in Computer Science. I'm from Rio Vista, CA (which is about an hour away from Sacramento and out in the boonies somewhere over in the valley).

I'm the Managing Director for Gumball Capital, a student-run non-profit group that was started here at Stanford in 2007. I've been involved since my freshman year of college, and I've loved it ever since. We work hard to spread awareness about microfinance and using it to alleviate poverty in 3rd-world economies, and to encourage social entrepreneurship to students at schools all over the place.

Feel free to email me at jltino@stanford.edu, or janelle@gumballcapital.org!

Interested in microfinance? Social entrepreneurship? Or unsure about what either of those things even are? The Gumball Challenge is a competition that you can run at YOUR school and get students involved in both of those things, completely hands-on. The Gumball Challenge has been run at high schools and colleges across the country and internationally, and we've raised over $28,000 over the last 2 years-- just from giving out $27 "mini-loans" to competing teams.
