College/Employer: Stanford University

Year of Graduation: 2012

Brief Biographical Sketch:

I'm Janani, a sophomore, a lifelong vegetarian and 2-year vegan. Veganism is really the intersection of a lot of different issues I care deeply about: animal rights, worker's rights, world hunger, global health, and the environment. I'm especially interested in issues of access to fresh, healthy food. I love to cook and bake with local ingredients and took advantage of my summer spent here in California frequenting the farmer's markets and challenging myself to prepare vegan, local, organic meals each day at less than $2-3 each. I'm studying Atmosphere and Energy with a minor in Feminist Studies and I enjoy talking about climate change, race, gender equality, queer issues, nutrition, anything!
