Brief Biographical Sketch:

I am a senior here at Stanford. I don't know what I'm doing with my life, but then, does anybody? Don't answer that.

I hail from the greatest state on God's Green Earth - Texas, if you didn't know better. Don't mess with Texas.

I love reading about pretty much anything, and Salt by Mark Kurlansky is one of my all-time favorites. Also The Hobbit. And Madame Bovary. Harry Potter's swell too.

S1449: Salt: A World History in Splash! Spring 2011 (Apr. 16 - 17, 2011)
Salt: We eat it every day. In fact, by and large, we ARE salt. In this course, inspired by Mark Kurlansky's masterpiece 'Salt', you will learn: why salt is so darn important to our bodies and minds, including the way in which neurons, of which our very selves are constituted, depend on salt to function; why people have done and continue to do crazy things to obtain this unassuming mineral; and why we should think ourselves fabulously lucky the next time we reach for a saltshaker that's brimming with sodium chloride.
