S3618: Science, Hoaxes, and Cranks in Splash! Spring 2014 (Apr. 12 - 13, 2014)
From randomly generated papers to essays full of 100% deliberate technobabble, academia has had its share of wacky hoaxes. We'll discuss some of the weird things people do to make a point and the real, actual problems they point out. The class will focus mostly on science-related hoaxes and issues, but no science background is needed.

M3216: How to Share in Splash! Fall 2013 (Nov. 02 - 03, 2013)
Never fight over how to share again! Learn some simple (and some not-so-simple) techniques for fairly dividing things up, and learn the logic behind why they work! Then try them out for yourself.

P2864: Let there be light! in Splash! Spring 2013 (Apr. 13 - 14, 2013)
Light - learn and see all the crazy things light can do! (includes demos)

P2916: The Many Phases of Physics in Splash! Spring 2013 (Apr. 13 - 14, 2013)
Did you know that water turning into ice is like your fridge magnet? The universe is full of many different materials and objects that exhibit what are called 'phase transitions.' In this class, we'll explore what this means: how a single substance can exhibit a variety of different, exciting properties (think superconductors!) We will have demonstrations where everyday objects change their behavior in exotic, exciting ways. Along the way, we will explain how simple, beautiful ideas can explain a rich diversity of physical behaviors.
