B2414: Hepatitis B: Exploring the Greatest Health Disparity in Asian and Pacific Islanders in Splash! Fall 2012 (Nov. 03 - 04, 2012)
1 in 10 Asians and Pacific Islanders is infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV), the leading cause of liver cancer in the world. In this class, we will discuss the biology of hepatitis B, the vaccination and screening process, and the treatment options. We will also explore epidemiology of why hepatitis B is more prevalent in certain demographics. Finally, we'll have a group discussion about how you can make a difference in your community through involvement with the Asian Liver Center and Team HBV high school chapters!
