Brief Biographical Sketch:

Please do not talk to me about politics after ten o’clock at night. Once I get started, I can’t stop. I have a real weakness for West Wing DVDs, which I watch whenever I have free time. The show feeds my love of politics because it captures the “feel” of working in a political setting. I’m not sure why I like politics so much. I see clearly that politics is brutal and that many politicians fall short of noble goals. Yet I have also seen the value of government directly. I believe in government and enjoy the struggle of making politics work to improve people’s lives. While political fights are often vicious, the vast majority of politicians genuinely want to improve other people’s lives. I also find the day-to-day pace of a Mayor’s Office – or, in the case of West Wing, a President’s Office – alluring in itself. I don’t watch any other televised sports.
