Past Classes

(Clicking a class title will bring you to the course's section of the corresponding course catalog)

E5766: Sewable Electronics in Splash Spring 2017 (Apr. 22 - 23, 2017)
Learn about the basics of circuits and sewing through a small hands-on sewable circuit project, which you get to keep and take home! We will use sewable LEDs, snaps, and coin batteries, connected together with conductive thread (no soldering required!). If you have extra fabric scraps, old T-shirts, or spare components you wish to use, feel free to bring them.

A5170: Modular Origami in Splash Fall 2016 (Dec. 03 - 04, 2016)
Ever folded water balloons or cranes? Want to try something different? Come learn modular origami! Modular origami involves folding many, many small units and assembling them into larger 3D geometric structures (without glue or tape). In this class, you'll be working with colorful post-it notes and/or origami paper to make some sort of polyhedral form, which you get to keep.

E4476: Sewable Electronics in Splash Fall 2015 (Nov. 07 - 08, 2015)
Learn about the basics of circuits and sewing through a small hands-on sewable circuit project, which you get to keep and take home! We will use (LilyPad) LEDs, snaps, and coin batteries, connected together with conductive thread (no soldering required!). If you have extra fabric scraps, old T-shirts, or spare components you wish to use, feel free to bring them.

H4161: Math-y Beading in Splash Spring 2015 (Apr. 11 - 12, 2015)
Beads are pretty, but polyhedra are prettier. We'll learn to make buckyballs (a.k.a. truncated icosahedra for math folks or C60 for chem folks) out of beads and string. By the end of the class, you'll have your own shiny geometric trinket to keep! Depending on time and interest, we might learn to make other geometric things...A fractal dodecahedron? Polyhedral carbon nanotori? The possibilities are (almost) endless. For an idea of what we'll be making, see here: https://db.tt/NPha2NOi.

H3807: Math-y Beading in Splash Fall 2014 (Nov. 08 - 09, 2014)
